Create virtual worlds, puzzles and games
Explore the latest in gaming technology in this deep dive into virtual reality. Along the way you'll learn how a 3D painting app and an industrial training simulator are created and you'll even design your own VR escape room.
You'll learn how to create objects that can be picked up, thrown and hit, how to create a UI and audio that follows objects round the scene, lighting effects and shadows, and even how to make wearable hats.
You'll need one version of the Quest VR headset. See below for some more specific information.

Don't just learn about coding on a screen - bring it into the VR world using industry-leading headsets
You'll learn how to use the industry-standard Unity environment to make device-independent VR experiences.
Create virtual worlds, games, logical puzzles and even virtual escape rooms
There are many ways to create games from simple drag and drop systems like Scratch to advanced professional environments like Unity (used in our 3D Game Design course and this one). With this course, you'll be using Unity.
Using these technologies allows you to rapidly prototype and build games that are truly cross-platform so they work on all recent VR headsets. This means that development is quick, and your games don't need to be individually created for each platform.
In this course, you'll use your own VR headset (you'll need an Oculus Quest) to create amazing 3D environments, puzzles and games. You'll need a compatible device to bring with you to camp. We recommend the Quest 2 (the 128GB model is fine) as it is good quality, relatively inexpensive and has a wide range of games available. However an earlier 64GB Quest 1 which you can find cheaply on places like ebay (and the newer Quest 3) would all work.
Setting up your headset
You'll first learn how to configure your headset, before moving on to setting up Unity for VR development, navigating the workspace, creating a virtual world and moving around the scene.
Developing in VR
You'll then progress on to topics like audio, rays, user interfaces and lighting. You'll be working through our tutorials but gaining the skills to work on your own projects later.
